العراق الصدرى « ƆAL-CIRĀQ ƆAL-SADRĪ »
English: Sadrist Iraq.
Seat of government: مدينة الصدر « Madīnaĥ ɔal-Sadr »
Status: Not democratic.
Structure: Theocratic and autocratic government based on loyalty to the current leader and his more-distinguished family.
Governing party: جماعة الصدر الثانی « Ĝamācaĥ ɔal-Sadr ɔal-ήānī ».
Head of government: مقتدى الصدر « Muqtadaj ɔal-Sadr ».
Assessment: Current extent of control unknown. The movements militia, the جيش المهدى « Ĝaj ɔal-Mahdī » (now officially the لواء اليوم الموعود « Liŭāɔ ɔal-Jūm ɔal-Maŭcūd »), still numbers in the tens of thousands. At its height, it controlled many centers of شيعى « īcī » population; in addition to its base in مدينة الصدر « Madīnaĥ ɔal-Sadr », it governed الكوفة ɔal-Kūfaḧ, الكوت « ɔal-Kūt », كربلاء « Karbalāɔ », and parts of النجف « ɔal-Naĝaf » and البصرة « ɔal-Basraḧ ». A 2008 battle to drive the militia out of البصرة « ɔal-Basraḧ » led to a gradual loss of power, but the 2014 fight against داعش « DĀCi » re-empowered the شيعى « īcī » militias.
