CENTRAFRIQUE NORD
— Also: Bęafrîka.
— English: Northern Central African Republic.
— Status: Not democratic.
— Structure: Decentralized area of militia control.
— Assessment: Has been out of the control of Bangî somewhat consistently in recent years, including under dictator François Bozizé (2003-13). In 2013, a northern coalition, Seleka CPSK-CPJP-UFDR, overthrew Bozizé and took power in Bangî, holding it until leader Michel Djotodia’s resignation in 2014. The militias have not, however, been disarmed.
